In this speed painting video,  I walk with you through my watercolor painting of a woodpecker. In my series of bird and botanical inspired works, I will not only guide you through the process of the work from sketch to completion but also embark on the tiny nuances of happy accidents and experimentation.

As with many of my works, there was no original plan for the end result since this was not only a study but an experiment. I have said before that I believe that experimenting as an artist is paramount for growth and expansion in any craft. If you want to learn more about that, visit this recent video “Become a Better Artist & Gain New Brain Connections“.

This particular woodpecker watercolor was created with numerous tools listed below. You can also learn more about the tools by visiting my Art Materials page. Give it a watch to see how it comes together while giving it a try with a similar style or create your own interpretation. Thank you and enjoy experimenting with watercolor!
