Commission Process
Thank you for your interest. I welcome figurative commissions as well as animal commissions (mostly cats). Below is a small selection of previous work.
To help me quote you accurately and confirm my availability, here’s what I’ll need to know up front:
- Figurative or cat? (If figurative, will there be more than one person?)
- What size are you envisioning?
- Do you have a specific deadline or timeline?
- Any color palette preferences (other work in my portfolio that has the right feel?)
- Are there any symbols or elements that would be meaningful to include?
- Is this for a specific occasion (gift, memorial, milestone)?
- Would you like the piece framed?

Process
4. Stage 1 – Rough Sketch
I’ll send a rough sketch for composition and concept approval before moving forward.
5. Stage 2 – Final Artwork
Once the sketch is approved, I will draw out the composition and work on the painting.
6. Final Review
When the piece is complete, you’ll have the opportunity to review the finished artwork.
7. Final Payment
If you approve the work, the remaining 50% is due before the artwork is released or shipped. (If not approved, you’re not obligated to pay the remaining balance, and the artwork remains my property.)
8. Delivery
Once final payment is received, the piece is prepared and shipped (or available for pickup).

1. Initial Inquiry
Reach out via email (aunia@auniakahn.com) with your idea (figurative or cat), and I’ll ask a few quick questions about size, timeline, and any symbolism you’d like included – some of those questions are outlined above.
2. Quote & Agreement
I’ll send you a quote along with a commission agreement outlining the fee, payment schedule, and timeline.
3. Deposit
A 50% deposit is due upon signing to confirm your commission slot. This deposit is non-refundable, as it compensates for time and materials.

Extra Goodies
You’ll receive the original rough sketch alongside the actual paint swatches used to create your piece, a tangible piece of the process, and a glimpse into how the work came to life from concept to canvas.
Certificate of Authnticity
Each commissioned piece is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity, verifying the work as an original, hand-painted piece created specifically for you. It documents the title, date, medium, and dimensions of the piece, and serves as a lasting record of provenance that is valuable both for insurance purposes and for passing the work down as a treasured heirloom.
Shipping
Your artwork is carefully packaged and shipped fully insured, with signature confirmation required upon delivery, ensuring it arrives safely and directly into your hands.
